PIAZZA GHIAIA – PARMA
In a context of general redevelopment of the historic market square in Parma fits the new steel and glass roofing.
The project designed by Paul Mancini Studio Officina, is divided into three portions of roofing with a curved outline.
The metal structure is done by circular columns branched (trees) which support main continuous windy beam, rest on these secondary beams rectilinear to form a grid with very light slabs of different shape and size.
The skin covering is made of laminated safety glass, and alternate silk-screened area, fully transparent areas and areas with photovoltaic cells for the production of electrical energy. Specific terminals in painted aluminum allow the positioning and the fixing of the glass plates following the curved shape of the metal structure.
